Like many adventure riders, you replaced your fuel tank with a long-range aftermarket one. Most of us hate the long vent hose hanging off the cap. They're annoying to take in and out of the steering tube, and it's in the way if you want to fuel up, strap on a tank bag or have a pouch on your handlebars.
 
This vent valve replaces the fuel tank breather hose. It allows air into your tank to equalize the pressure as it supplies fuel to your engine. It prevents fuel from splashing out and making a mess when you fall.

A quick tip: See how tight the hose fits on your cap, whether you have an Acerbis, IMS or Clarke tank. If it's not snug, try a different line diameter or tie-wire it down. Vent tubes are easy to lose, but a little tie-wire should help prevent bumping it off accidentally.
