Look closely at the stock rear brake pedal on your Honda XR650L or XL600.
 
There's not much to it except that you feel like the bike was designed 20+ years ago when you look at this part. It's a stamped heavy gauge steel sheet offering little lateral rigidity and a tiny tip with no grip.
 
If you fall and slide, it's common to curl it back like a banana peel, and it simply runs a rough pivot in the frame. The tip here can pivot backward in a crash, lowering the chance of wrecking the pedal.
