This filter is built with high-quality stainless steel mesh and is designed to be cleaned and re-used infinite times. It will pay itself off after a few oil changes, and the only concern is which oil to use ;-)
 
There is a lot of talk about filtration, but if you search for efficiency, a quality paper filter (uneven in a unit from 20 to 90 microns), the fine stainless steel mesh performs evenly with 35 microns.
 
The added benefit is almost no oil pressure loss, meaning the oil will flow easily without restriction through the filter on cold starts.
 
Running this type of filter is very convenient for adventure travellers and overlanders on a more practical level. If you ride your pig for long trips in potentially remote or under-developed areas, you don't need to worry about carrying or finding oil filters.
 
The filter can be cleaned with any solvent, starting with the one you have, gas (petrol) or kerosine. Soap or any detergent and hot water will do in a pinch.
 
Instructions for quick cleaning at home: remove the filter and spray with carb cleaner until it runs off clear. Thoroughly dry with an air hose or let sit before reinstallation.
