It uses its magnetic tip to "grab" and keep those damaging metal shavings and particles from your lubrication system that would otherwise damage or quickly wear vital components by circulating furthermore into your engine.
The bolts are CNC-machined from high-quality aluminum with a strong embedded magnet for high efficiency. It also comes with pre-drilled holes to make for easy installation of safety wires should you want to secure it 100%.
Note: You have another drain plug in the frame. This is the engine case drain plug replacement, where it matters the most.
