Have you checked your wheel bearings recently? Especially on those older DR650 from pre-1996!
They should be replaced every few years at best or more often if you ride in the wet as we do here on the West Coast. Check your side play once in a while to detect potential failures early enough.
If there's no play and rolls nice by hand (wheel off the bike), you can clean and repack them with grease to get a longer life out of them. But if you feel any play, you better replace them sooner than later!
