Have you used your patch kit on the trail lately? Maybe you fixed a tube at home and need a refill? We've all been there. You always find the full tire patch kit but not the glue, or it's gone hard. When you break the aluminum seal, the shelf life, not to mention the harsh conditions in your tool kit, is greatly diminished.
It would be best if you replaced your glue with a new one in your trail kit. Once open, it tends to dry quickly, and that's not a welcome surprise when you need to patch a hole in your tube.
