Are you looking to do the chain replacement yourself this time around?
Good idea! It's not complicated to put a rivet-type link on your chain with the proper tool.
You may not be able to buy your replacement chain cut to the exact length that fits your bike and you may need to press fit a rivet on the new chain (as opposed to the clip-style link).
This tool can do it all! Because it's the Heavy Duty model, you can cut chains and rivet new links on all sizes of drive chains and cam chains.
It's always recommended that you grind off a rivet head before using the proper pin to push the rivet out. Grinding the pinhead will significantly reduce the tool's load and help prevent premature wear or damage to the tip.
Then, choose the proper head to press your new rivet link in place. If you are unfamiliar with this kind of tool, it's helpful to watch a few videos and check the manual in the "Learn More" section.
