Many bikes still come with a very basic steel bar, whose only merit is to hold the controls at the lowest cost possible for the manufacturer. But the very first dirt nap, they will bend and potentially ruin your trip!

A modern bar not only improves your bike's reliability but can also improve it's ergos, so it better fits you and the type of riding you do.  Those oversized bars are a must for anyone riding off-road!

They are widely available and come in many different shapes (called bends) but choosing one is a very personal choice, and it can be daunting to pick one!

That's why we offer a small curated selection with some guidelines based on our experience as adventure riders.

The Tusk Chub Oversized 1-1/8" handlebar is an extremely strong and light bar made with the same 7075 T-6 aluminum and finished with a shot-peened anodized layer, the same as the most famous brands but without the "brand marketing" price tag!

The graphics and markings are chemically applied so they won't peel off and keep looking good on that black finish for a long time.

How do I choose my ideal bend?

  • KTM Bend

Do you want to prioritize off-road performance, get in the best "attack" position and get that dirt bike feeling in the cockpit? This is the widest and straightest bar (least sweep) and with a relatively low rise. It does work really well with 1" risers or tall clamps and is still decent seated on-road, but you will feel riding "ON" the bike with elbows out more than the other bends.

  • CR High Bend

The three other bends are slightly narrower than the KTM, but the CR bend has the most sweep angle. This allows for a very relaxed sitting position and is best if you have chronic shoulder pain. It's also a bit taller than the KTM to add comfort while standing up.

  • Moto Bend

This one is often a favourite for Adventure riders looking for comfort while standing, being the tallest but it does keep a somewhat straight profile to open your elbows out for a good off-road position. The sweep angle is just a tad more than the straight KTM, allowing to relax your shoulders while seating for those slab sections.

Because it's already tall (almost 4"), it is best to use Oversized Bar Mounts instead of riser adapters.

  • YZ Bend

Finally, the YZ bend is perfect if you want a good amount of sweep angle but do not want to add height. This is the lowest bar with more sweep angle than the KTM or Moto but not as much as the CR which is also the taller bar.

If you feel your shoulders could be more relaxed but you are quite happy with your height, this bar should fit you well.

Give it a try and find your ideal riding position, especially when it doesn't come with a high price tag. This well worth it!

Always check the correct function of all your controls (throttle line, clutch cable and electrical cables) once the installation is complete and before you head out on your ride.
